International Membership
Description
International membership may be conferred by the Board of Directors on hand surgeons who:- reside and practice in countries other than the United States and Canada;
- have achieved distinction in surgery in their own country;
- are members in good standing of their national surgical organization(s);
- have trained in hand surgery in an accredited residency or fellowship program.
- have a minimum of one (1) year active practice, with adequate experience in hand surgery, such experience to be determined by the Board of Directors and evaluated by the Membership Committee; and
- be able to demonstrate and verify competence in hand surgery according to standards determined by the Board of Directors and evaluated by the Membership Committee.
International members may not vote at general business meetings of the Association and may not hold office, but may serve on committees and may exercise voting privileges concerning committee business.
Instructions
- Complete the application form and attach the following:
- Application fee of $75.00 USD. Checks should be made payable to AAHS.
- Passport size photograph.
- A copy of the certificate or letter from the certifying board verifying board certification.
- Two (2) letters of recommendation; at least one from an active member of AAHS.
- Copy of Curriculum Vitae, which should include publications and presentations. Only complete applications will be accepted.
- Failure to follow these guidelines exactly will cause your application to be returned in order to obtain compliance, and may delay approval of your application.
- Applications are reviewed twice annually. Deadlines for submissions are May 1st and November 1st.
