Active Membership

Description

• are board certified by the American Board of Surgery, the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, the American Board of Plastic Surgery, or their Canadian equivalents;
• have training in hand surgery in an accredited residency or fellowship program;
• have a minimum of one year active practice, with adequate experience in hand surgery, such experience to be determined by the Board of Directors and evaluated by the Membership Committee; and
• can demonstrate and verify competence in hand surgery according to standards determined by the Board of Directors and evaluated by the Membership Committee..

Active members must be approved by the membership Committee and Board of Directors and be elected into membership by the voting members at the Association's Annual Meeting, Active members may vote and hold office in the Association.

Instructions

1. Complete the application form and attach the following:
• Application fee of $75.00 USD. Checks should be made payable to AAHS.
• Passport size photograph.
• Copy of the certificate or letter from the certifying board verifying board certification.
• Two (2) letters of recommendation, at least one from an active member of AAHS.
• Copy of Curriculum Vitae, which should include papers, books, chapters, presentations, organizations and memberships. Only complete applications will be accepted.
2. Failure to follow these guidelines exactly will cause your application to be returned in order to obtain compliance, and may delay approval of your application.
3. Applications are reviewed twice annually. Deadlines for submissions are May 1st and November 1st.
